3/13/2020: Continued work on impulse control. Introduced problem solving steps (below) and role played different scenarios to give student a chance to practice the skill. Introduced and practiced "Cocoa Breathing".

2/21/2020: Starting a conversation. Discussed a story in which a student wanted to start a conversation with another student and how she could go about starting a conversation. Used problem solving strategies to initiate a conversation and discussed how to friendly end a conversation .
2/14/2020: Introduced impulse control and problem solving skill. Watched video of two girls who got in a disagreement and discussed strategies they could use to calm down and problem solve their issue.
2/7/2020: The group learned about accepting differences in others. Group discussed how someone might feel when they experience prejudice. Discussed how it is unkind and unfair to make fun of other people's differences. Identified similarities and differences in others from a story we read in the group.
1/24/2020: Learned about expressing concern. Explored how to show empathy with actions and words. Connected how expressing concern is a strong skill in maintaining friendships. Discussed times students expressed concern for others and when others expressed concern for them and how that made them feel in both situations. We role played situations in which students practiced expressing concerns.
1/17/2020: Lesson was on active listening and what traits a good lister has. The Student identified traits such as eye contact, body language, not interrupting. The students practiced and Mr. Jackson coached active listening skills.
1/10/2020: Learned about conflicting feelings, that people could have two different feelings that conflict with each other for a single situation. Told stories and had students identify conflicting feelings individuals have in stories.
1/3/2020: Reviewed group rules and expectations. Discussed coping skills we have been working on. Modeled and practiced "Lazy 8 Breathing" and discussed how it calms the brain down.
12/13/2019: All but one student was absent today. Worked with individual student on coping skills.
12/6/2019: Activity focused on emotion identification. Practiced coping skills and discussed times when using coping skills would be appropriate.
11/22/2019: Read book "Cool Down and Work through Anger". Discussed emotions that could lead to anger such as disappointment and sadness. Worked on deep breathing, coached, modeld, and practiced deep breathing. Discussed times it would be good to use deep breathing.
11/15/2019: Continued to work on emotion identification and deep breathing/coping skill. Modeled and practiced deep breathing skill.
11/1/2019: Discussed emotion and being able to identify emotions in others. Worked on deep breathing/coping skills.
10/25/2019: Went over procedures and expectations. Discussed Social Skills and what we would work on.
