3/12/2020:Empathy training, recognizing physical clues in our own bodies to help us identify our feelings and recognizing our own feelings helps us understand other people's feelings. Identify body clues, inside our body and outside our body, to help us identify our feelings.
3/5/2020: Lesson on identifying feelings with body language. If students are able to identify feelings in others they will be more likely to respond appropriately to their peers needs. talked about the kindergarten program and feelings associated with the program. Reviewed "Lazy 8 Breathing" and "Cocoa Breathing" to help with feelings associated with the program.
2/20/2020: Worked on emotion identification by reading peoples body language and facial expressions. Discussed how reading friends body language can help us respond to our friend more appropriately to what they need.
1/23/2020: Worked on problem-solving. Sometimes friends want to play together but have different ideas or conflicts arise. Talked about feelings associated with disagreements about friends and how we can problem-solve with friends when we disagree. Discussed times when students disagreed with their friends and how that made them feel and how they solved the problem.
1/16/2020: Worked on identifying feelings in others. Showed three pictures of kids and had students identity what the other kid was feeling. Had students practice identifying emotions on each other by looking at facial expressions and body language.
1/9/2019: Reviewed rules and expectations. Discussed feelings and how it would make others feel if rules and expectations were not followed. Reviewed, practiced, modeled, and coached "Lazy 8 Breathing" and continued to encourage students to use strategy when feeling upset or wiggly.
12/11/2019: Read "Cool down and Work Through Anger" and discussed things that have made student feel mad. Continued to work on "Lazy 8 Breathing" by coaching, practicing and modeling skill. Played game that got students excited, used skill to calm body and brains back down.
12/5/2019: Continued work on "Lazy 8 Breathing". Coached, modeled, and practiced Lazy 8 Breathing with the group. Played a game and practiced Lazy 8 Breathing to regulate bodies and minds after the game.
11/21/2019: Introduced the skill "Lazy 8 Breathing". Discussed when to use the skill (when students feels angry, sad, upset). Modeled, practiced, and coached skill.
11/14/2019: Continued to the read book "Cool Down and Work Through Anger". Coached, modeled, and practiced coping skill of deep breathing. Played a game getting student excited and then practiced deep breathing strategies to calm body and mind back down.
10/30/2019: Read book "Cool Down and Work Through Anger". Discussed different coping strategies students used in the past to help them calm down. Students identified taking deep breaths, counting to 10, and taking a walk. Modeled, coached, and practiced deep breathing exercise together with slow breaths in, hold breath for 1 second and then slow breath out.
10/23/2019: Went over procedures and expectations. Discussed Social Skills and what we would work on.
