3/11/2020: Watched a video about the first day of school and how the same situation for people can cause different feelings. Students named a variety emotions by physical, verbal and situational clues and named physical and emotional similarities and difference among the different children. Practiced "Lazy 8 Breathing" and "Cocoa Breathing"
3/5/2020: Lesson on communicating feelings. Told story of student who felt disappointed and sad and how he handled those feelings. Student talked to his grandfather about what was bothering him. Discussed trusted adults and identifying who some trusted adults are that student can tell their feelings to. Talked about the kindergarten program and feelings associated with the program. Reviewed "Lazy 8 Breathing" and "Cocoa Breathing" to help with feelings associated with the program.
2/27/2020: Worked on identifying feelings with body language and facial expressions and also by identifying feelings by how are body feels (i.e. faster heart rate, hot face, stomach ache, etc).
2/13/2020: Continued to work on identifying emotions. Reviewed facial expression and body language of others in pictures to better understand how others feel by looking at them.
1/23/2020: Empathy training. Worked on identifying emotions through facial expressions and body language. Played emotion/feelings charades in order to practice identifying emotions in others. Reviewed "Lazy 8 Breathing" skill and Following Directions steps:
1. Look at the person
2. Say "Okay"
3. Do it Right Away
1/16/2020: Learned about the stop, calm down, and think strategy. Discussed story in which one student scared another student and the student had some negative initial reactions. Talked about what the student could have done differently with the stop, calm down and think strategy. Modeled, practiced, and coached "Lazy 8 Breathing"
1/9/2019: Reviewed rules and expectations. Discussed feelings and how it would make others feel if rules and expectations were not followed. Reviewed, practiced, modeled, and coached "Lazy 8 Breathing" and continued to encourage students to use strategy when feeling upset or wiggly.
12/5/2019: Reviewed following directions steps with the student and practiced following directions. Introduced "Lazy 8 Breathing" to student. Coached, modeled, and practiced Lazy 8 Breathing with the students.
11/21/2019: Continued working on following directions. Read the book "Know and Follow Rules". Discussed different rules at school that students need to follow. Practiced following directions. Practiced line and body basics in class.
11/14/2019: Continued working on following directions. Coached, taught, and practiced the following directions steps. Read part of the book "Cool Down and Work Through Anger". Discussed things that make students feel angry. Practiced deep breathing skill together.
10/30/2019: Taught steps to following directions. Coached, modeled and practiced steps to following directions. Worked on line and body basics as well as raising hand to get teachers attention. Steps to following directions:

3. Do it right Away
